Deconstruction of voice over in trailer 'Concussion'

Deconstruction of voice over in trailer 'Concussion'

By Connor Taylor

At the beginning of the trailer the main character ‘the protagonists’ voice over starts on the trailer stating his belief and his moral standing, which immediately presents to the audience that he is a good guy.

This is then also paired with the use of background music which is a sad and sympathetic single note played on many trailers to stress a point of turmoil.

Then roughly half way into the trailer when a stronger idea of the plot is revealed the voice over shifts from the main character or the ‘protagonist’ to another character who’s identity and moral values are unknown.

He states in the voice over that ‘You turned on the lights and gave their biggest bogeyman a name’ and later ‘You have no idea how bad this is going to get’ suggests that the antagonists of the film which are the NFL Corporation, meaning that he is majorly overpowered and should be easily beaten or removed.
