During this session I decided to edit and slightly experiment with the trailers music/soundtrack. For this therefore I began with the playing the trailer and specifically observing the use of sound in comparison and contrast to the footage.
For the first part of this session I started to alter the shot lengths and placement so that they would correspond and fit with the soundtrack, due to the importance of music in teaser trailers this felt like a subtle but important aspect to the trailers professionalism.
I then further altered the timeline of the trailer by moving shots to different parts of the trailer which corresponded with the music such as with the bass drop which can be used for the turning point or climax within the trailer.
I then started to alter the decibel level of the music at particular intervals in order to lower and heighten the impact of parts of the music by simply altering the volume. This though a little change I believe will have a significant impact of the trailer as a whole as it will also make the trailer appear to have more happening and create a deeper feeling for the trailer.
I then started to splice the music into separate parts so that I could alter their decibel level more accurately so that I can create a gradual descend of music before it would then change to a different piece of music. I did this by gradual lowering the decibel level by one per each segment/part of the music which I divided until the music was almost inaudible.
Finally I then created a gap in the music between the two and also put a black shot their, which I used to clearly label the peak and climax within the film.
To conclude I believe that this session was rather successful, although the second music part may need to be replaced with an different song, I think that most of it was beneficial for the trailers finished product.
