I deconstructed the Kingsman trailer, which I thought would have a lot of editing used, as it is an action film.
After that sequence of shots, some longer ones are placed lasting around 4-5 seconds each, as the shots themselves are anti-dramatic and relaxed.
There is a quick burst as it shows everything stored in the secret room, with shots lasting less than half a second each. Later in the trailer a man reloading a handgun is shown with three shots of him reloading in less than a second, to show how prompt he is at reloading the gun.
As the trailer begins to get more climatic and action packed, faster shots are used, most of them less than a second long. The shots generally change with each beat of the backdrop from the music.
As Samuel L. Jackson counts down from 5, each shot from here changes with each number he counts down, to amplify the effect that the countdown is having on the audience. To top this off, the title shows as the countdown finishes.
I think that the editing used in this trailer is effective as it uses the music and what is happening in the shots to guide it.
