- There is some diegetic low volume, light brass bass music in the background to accompany the informal dining scene.
- Johnny Depp's character through diegetic dialect 'come on, what's the secret, you can tell me' in regards to the food he has been served which doesn't conform to what the audience would expect from such a notorious gangster creating enigma.

- The diegetic low volume, light bras bass music is still playing in the background to keep the sense of calmness.
- After the man has answered Johnny deeps character about the secret to the food he diegetic speaks 'I thought it was a family secret?' which is accompanied by the low volume calm diegetic music in the background, changing instantly to a dull smash of a tambourine.
- This signifies a change in mood to the audience as the sudden change from calm to chaos in the mechanism of the music creates an enigmatic feel to the trailer as the audience will want to find out what this change to chaos will result in.
0:51-0:55
- After the scene switches back from the typography it switches to Johnny Depp's character looking calmly agitated while there is a growing loud non diegetic high pitch screeching sound creating tension.
- This is followed with diegetic dialogue of a calm 'no' form Johnny Depp's character creating an eerie, enigmatic situation as his persona is parallel of the rising tension of the sound.
0:56-1:20
- Throughout this section of the trailer there are jump cuts of different parts of the film while Johnny Depp's character through un-parallel diegetic and non diegetic dialogue addresses the man he's having dinner with 'he tell me your secret family recipe today, maybe you spill a little something about me tomorrow'
- This dialogue combined with unlinked jump cuts reveals to the audience a little bit about the films narrative but still keeps it restrictive as there are no specifics mentioned in the diegetic dialogue but scenes of what he doing that conforms to the audiences expectations of him.
- Moreover, while this is happening the eerie high pitch screech noise increases in volume which in turns adds more tensions and climax to the trailer.
:21-1:45
- The trailer then switches to the man in question by Johnny Depp's character who stutters diegetically 'I was just saying' which represents the audience how intimidating Johnny Depp's character is giving the audience a little sight of the restrictive narrative as it is almost confirmed he is this notorious gangster that they know about
- Johnny Depp's character follows up with 'just saying it what got my 9 years in Alcatraz' 'Just saying could you buried real quick' now cementing in the audiences minds that he is this notorious gangster and combined with the continuing increase in the volume of the non diegetic high speech screech sound creates enigma and suspense.
- It then instantly turns to the typography of 'Black Mass' with the same, but louder, non diegetic sound of the symbol/tambourine which keeps the restricted narrative through almost a cliff hanger and the sound used creates an eerie sense of tension with a sinster edge conforming to the films narrative.
