Editing the trailer *1

Editing the trailer *1

By Connor Taylor

During this session I focused on getting the trailer titles put in, this is because the titles in common crime trailers and other genres are structured by two main aspects, music and titles. Therefore I decided to start putting the title shots inline with the music into the trailer.

After a little structuring (shot placement) I then needed to put some blank shots in the timeline so that the titles could go over them, conforming to most trailers having a different background for the shots compared to the rest of the trailer.

Further on I started browsing through the title shots provided by Final cut, to see if any where to a suitable genre and standard for the trailer. and after some searching one was found that had a suitable design, however I would do some modifying of my own.

Then I began to shape the timings of the blank shots so that they could cover the duration of the titles and that the time for reading the titles is long enough.

I then started to crop some of the existing shots so that the timing between shots was suitable and that any further unnecessary parts were removed.

Then I started to put in the title shot words themselves, putting in the literature for the shots. This is an important part of the trailer as it greatly defines the narrative throughout the trailer so that people are aware on the genre and base narrative.

Towards the end of this session I still continued to make and finalise some more of the title shots for the trailer and started to browse for different fonts as they may be much more appropriate typography.

To conclude this session, I think the editing was rather successful, and managed to add some more structure to the entirety, making music placement much easier for the future.
