To edit our footage we used Final Cut Pro which is easy to use but offers a wide variety of editing techniques. Examples of this are shown in screenshots to show what editing took place and how we did it.
- For our editing we inserted a number of titles into our trailer. We feel as if this is important in portraying the narrative in our trailer as it is a common convention for urban dramas. We did this by opening the text option and inserting a title by clicking and dragging over the selected footage. Our selected title was 'Basic Title'.
- In order to give the impression of action as a sub-genre in our trailer we edited the footage so that the shots would be short. We achieved this by cross cutting the prostitute scene with the night time shots of London using the blade tool. This allowed us to insert breaks in-between footage making the shots quick and abrupt, making the trailer more dramatic and intense.
- We added to the narrative of our trailer through titles. The screenshot shows you how we did the write up of our titles. We clicked and dragged a basic title onto our footage and typed in the text in the top right corner. Underneath the text we were then able to change edit the typography where we changed the size of the font.
- We felt that a black background with a white title would be effective because the colours correspond, making it easy to read, as well as giving the business/formal interpretation to enforce the genre.
- We also changed the font of the title through selecting the choose font drop down menu from the top right. We felt that the font 'Minimal' was an effective use of typography because it looks like a modern/urban text. This conforms to our genre of an urban crime drama because the typography gives the implication that narrative is based around business in this era.
