For our trailer it is important that we make our own production company titles that will link with the genre. We have done this by using key convention codes that will signify our genre of an urban crime drama. Iconography that connotes to this is establishing shots of urban settings, typography and sound effects.
- We began by selecting the footage using a shot of blurred car headlamps as it created the illusion of moving specimens of light moving across the screen. Our limitation was that the footage looked too similar to other footage we had used originally in our trailer.
- We edited the footage by inserting a black and white filter. This was achieved by looking at the various framed filter in Final Cut Pro and clicking and dragging filter over the footage. The result of this was that the footage differed to our original shots in the trailer but through the use of dark lighting it conformed to our genre of urban crime dramas.
- The second effect we used on this footage was to make the picture look distorted. We did this by changing the size of the frame of the footage so the image was stretched and uneven. The sixe of the frame was very easy to adjust as it was a matter of selecting the 'Transform' option on the right hand pane and clicking and dragging the corners of the frame to stretch the image. The effect this had was that it would suggest turmoil, adding to the film's genre as dark through the use of production company iconography.
- We also decided it was appropriate to add to the distortion of the footage by turning the frame upside down. The result of this added to the distortion of the overall shot of the traffic and now differs from other footage completely. It gave the illusion of dots moving and fading across the screen and added to the turmoil effect on the audience.
- This was achieved by using the option in the top rights hand corner of the software page and clicking on the option 'Transform'. We were then able to select the little point in the middle of the screen to twist the whole frame round.
- We inserted the text by typing in the title in the right hand side of the programme. We felt as if this was an effective title for our production company because the wording 'Pinnacle Motion' suggests the prestige and high quality of the production company. This implies that the film is of high prestige and is very successful.
- An addition use of typography was the alteration of the font which we changed to 'Deep Glow'. This allowed the title to not fade into the background image and made it stand out more as a result. The typography still remains white, however the footage has been darkened. As a result the title still looks professional.
