As part of our film poster we had to include a Billings Block in order to show the film's credits. For the research element I am going to look at examples to see what they include and where they are placed by using Exemplars as our inspiration.
- From the Black Mass film poster we can see that the Billings Block is in the lower third of the poster in the centre, between the age rating and the production company logos. This is a good example to use because Black Mass is a crime drama like ours making it an effective exemplar which conforms to our chosen genre.
- The Billings Block stands out as it is in white on top of a black/grey background which is important because it must be readable to the audience as it is a formal text.
- You can see the content from the Billings Block from the example below. It must consist of the credits of the studio, film writers name, the actor's names, the title of the film, musicians, the main editors name, the head of photography, the producers and the director's name last. This is to show the lead roles in the production of the film.
- It is also important to have the specific font used to conform to conventions of a generic billings block, which we will use in our poster. A certain font is used in the Billings Block because it makes the text unique and can be easily identified.
