Sound deconstruction in The Big Short

It begins with a light tapping sound almost as if to show a frustrated worker tapping his pencil on the desk.

Then there is an intermission at which a telephone sound is played, which is a big feature in this film as it is about the stock market.

It then goes back to the tapping and talking is spoken over it. We will not be including any dialogue in our trailer as it will make it sound unprofessional as we do not have access to a studio or any high quality equipment.

Miscellaneous things related to stockbroking such as typing on a keyboard are used in time with the music to allow an integrated tune with the business world.

Music is cut out for a small section of dialogue.

Drums are introduced to add a bit more intensity to the trailer as things start to heat up.

As each title is introduced a loud explosion sounding effect is placed to grab the audience's attention to the title.

These themes are repeated throughout the trailer. Dialogue is used throughout also. Some conventions may not be the same as our trailer, as this is a cinematic trailer, whereas ours is a teaser, therefore we may not use some aspects because of this.

I also noticed at this point we was missing this:

And so I took a screenshot in The Big Short trailer.

I then imported this into Final cut, put it at the beginning.

I added a gap in between Paramount production and the new screenshot.

I cropped this so that the outlines weren't involved in the shot and it looked professional.
