I deconstructed sound in the official teaser trailer 'Entourage' where we changes in types of sound and how the sound is edited to conform to an urban drama teaser trailer.
- We see in the exposition of the trailer that there is non diegetic sound effects of low pitched eerie music during the establishing shots of a city, such as skyscrapers and an ariel shot looking down onto the roads which creates tension for the audience.
- The music suddenly becomes louder in a burst of energy as it cross cuts to a party releasing the suspense but suddenly changes again as during the titles which continues into the next shot of the film.
- As well as the non diegetic soundtrack, we also hear diegetic sound effects of sirens as we see a police raid onto the scene. This increases the tempo of the non diegetic soundtrack as the beat becomes faster with the introduction of "ay" to create hype which conforms to an urban drama as there are conventions of action. The tension also builds quickly by the soundtrack becoming higher pitched but is then suddenly released through an anti climatic drone sound.
- We also begin to hear a non diegetic voiceover which slows the tempo of the music down, however it rebuilds suspense and is released again through genre conventions of action, such as fire, flashing lights and fast paced shots. This conforms to urban drama conventions as action is a sub genre which gives important research to base our teaser trailer on.
- As the action scene progresses the tone of the music becomes a much higher pitch, creating suspense which is anti-climatic as it creates enigma through restrictive narrative. Instead we see a cross cut through montage editing of characters arguing with a man in a suit. There is diegetic dialogue and a non diegetic soundtrack of an electric guitar which appears to be play comedic playful music which subverts to the common representation of an urban drama.
- Genre is also represented through dramatic pauses where the scene becomes quiet. This is achieved by removing the non diegetic soundtrack which is heavy on the ear to just the diegetic sound effects. This emphasizes the comedic genre which subverts to urban dramas. The scene of the man smashing a picture frame which has the diegetic sound effect of a shattering sound, however as soon as this happens there is a cut in non diegetic sound to silence to illustrate humour.
