Filming Evaluation

Filming Evaluation: 22/01/16

We filmed the drinks/party scene for our trailer which overall, was successful because we managed to film all the shots we could in the given time and was able to film in good filming conditions with appropriate planning and preparation in advance.

  • The location worked well as it was convenient for everybody because it took place in a studio at school. It's because of this we were able to use extras, such as the actresses as they were more willing to do it as it didn't take up a lot of their time. We wanted to film an over the shoulder shot of the two girls flirting with the main character which we had to do numerous times to get a high quality shot but it was successful as the quality of footage was good.

  • A complication of the filming was the lighting as it was hard to make the room dark enough to give the illusion the setting was at a night club. In hindsight, we realised that the location could've been better but getting footage in a genuine night club is complicated and restrictive to cameras. As a result we overcame this by using a party light in a dark studio room which although looked compelling, it lowered the quality of our footage.

  • The final shot we wanted to take was a close up of the main character using a props drink of Brandy which would've been effective in conforming to our genre because the use of upper class drinks symbolises the genre of a business drama by connoting to wealth and class. This proved difficult however, because the lighting restricted the noticeability and recognition of the prop.

To conclude, although we achieved the shots we wanted to a good enough quality, it took longer than anticipated to film and collect the footage we wanted due to the flaws of the location, although it was convenient and effective in circumstances of using additional actors.
