Trailer Editing 20/01/16
- I started the editing with the goal of shortening it and editing it around the music so it was all in sync.
- This shot shows the finished piece of our sound track.
- To edit it found the place in the song starts to lead up to the beat drop, and using blade, cut the parts before that part away from the song.
- Then I faded the song in so it subtly comes into the trailer.
- After this it started on shorten a section of the trailer that included the some some building shots and the close up money shot with a tube shot that needed to be rearranged.
- First thing I did was create a blank, black space in between the building shot and the rest of the shots using blade to divide up a bigger black space.
- Secondly, I inserted it in the place in which it would be most effective in order to have the title of 'Wealth' being shown during the black space.
- Next, in this sequence of clips, I deleted two of them because although they were nice shots, they were not essential to the trailers narrative or structure.
- I used the Handshake clip as shown in the picture after the title of "Wealth" to use that as the pivotal turning point in the trailer and it matches up with the bass drop of the soundtrack as well to further emphasise this change.
- Additionally, i replaced the title of "But when Reality Hits" before the drop and in conjunction with the handshake.
- This helped our trailer conform to the theory of equilibrium and disequilibrium while conforming to common conventions of our genre.
- In this part of the trailer, for it to fully conform and support the beat of the sound track and have narrative relevence, i moved the title "Temptation" into this section from earlier on in the trailer.
- It makes this sequence have some relevance because their is the suggestion of prostitution/sexual material and conforms with the connotations of "Temptation".
- Again, I needed to break up the ending sequence at the end to have the fast paced tension building effect that we wanted to achieve.
- And in doing so, I was able delete and use clips that increased the timing of the trailer in this section which, had great effect on the narrative and suggestiveness of the film while declining the running time of our trailer.
- These final two photos show how I removed and deleted clips that were not completely essential for our trailer and that it is now at the one minute target now rather than exceeding it.
Conclusion
- Production and useful session as I was able to reduce the length of the trailer to within what we are permitted.
- Having edited and cut the song, the editing that I have done in this session now flows nicely with the beat of the song
- Moreover, rearranging shots and titles has caused our trailer to make more sense than before because their were shots and titles together that did not have any meaning or similarities.
- As we are filming again for a few seconds more of filming, we will need to cut down the trailer again so this process may indeed need to be repeated again.
