Research of Sound tracks and Songs
What am I looking for?
For our sound track I am looking for a song that is some what racey, high tempo and creates a sense of pride within the characters while giving the trailer a little edge to conform with the action and corruption that takes place. Examples of this include: Black SkinHead by Kanye West, Movements by Phamm, Otis by Jay Z and Til' I collapse by Eminem.
Black Skinhead by Kanye West
Otis by Jay Z
Til' I Collapse by Eminem
In order to be able to use a song or sound in our trailer we need to have either created the sound/song or found something that isn't copyrighted so we aren't breaking law and also so we can use that in our film product. Since looking for a song that isn't copyrighted is rather hard, I used the website SoundCloud that enables people to upload their own created music freely and to be used for free and most of the time isn't copyrighted.
First Song:
Martin Solveig & GTA vs Skepta: That's not me intoxicated
https://soundcloud.com/zygi85/martin-solveig-gta-vs-skepta-thats-not-me-intoxicated
- This song had a little too much high volume bass in it which made it sound too up beat and happy for our trailer.
- Additionally, the rapping in the song did not conform what are films narrative is about nor does it conform to our genre.
Second Song
Reech -Nah Oh [Deep Sounds]
https://soundcloud.com/deepsounds/reech-nah-oh-deep-sounds
- Has subtle bass that is not over powering.
- The lyrics, to some extent, link to narrative and give a little away about the restrictive narrative we are presenting.
- It also has a nice build up to a bassy drop which would come in very useful because we can use that to signify the change from equilibrium to disequilibrium.
Third Song
Disclosure - January (Kaytranada)
https://soundcloud.com/kaytranada/disclosure-january-kaytranada
- Unlike the example songs above, this song is too slow paced.
- It does not have a sharp drop or deeper bass
- The lyrics and theme of the song do not conform or have any relevance to our narrative which could weaken our trailer.
Fourth Song
In for the Kill (La Roux) DJ Slinks Trap Remix
https://soundcloud.com/garrett-borg-music/in-for-the-kill-la-roux-dj
- This song had a little too much high volume bass in it which made it sound too up beat and happy for our trailer.
- Additionally, the singing in the song did not conform what are films narrative is about nor does it conform to our genre.
- Moreover, for vast parts of the film their is a high pitched electric guitar sound that is very slow which is not what we are looking for from a soundtrack as it has more connotations with horror rather than Crime Drama.
