Reviews and Ratings: Poster Editing
As part of our final editing for our 'Bank' film poster we inserted reviews for our film to conform to our genre of an urban crime drama. From research, such as Black Mass that share reviews from publishers that give a rating about the film to represent it's prestige.
- We decided to insert star ratings onto our poster which we did by collecting an image from google and then uploading the file to a separate Photoshop document. We had to change the contrast of the stars from a white background to black stars to a black background with white stars because they needed to stand out more on our poster. We did this by using the colour bar in the right hand corner of the screen.
- In order to merge the star review file with our poster we clicked 'image' and then 'adjustments' which led to a drop down bar where you can insert the file to another document by saving it as a jpeg.
- As well as inserting the star ratings, we also decided to put reviews on our poster to make our product look more compelling to the audience because positive film reviews make the product look more engaging to it's target audience.
- We did this by researching quotes from film posters similar to ours, such as Wolf of Wall Street who conform to our genre. Once we decided on what to say we inserted a text box from the left side drop down pane and created a textbox where we wanted the quote to be placed on our layout.
- From the changes made this is what our final product looked like. From inserting reviews and ratings you can see the film poster now looks more professional and engaging because the layout is more sophisticated. There is more detail and more to look at compared to the original draft; referring to the Golden Rule our focus starts from the left where we see the city skyline and then moves down to our title and tagline and then to the top right to the reviews.
