Research: Alcoholic drinks props

Research: Alcoholic drinks props

By researching the props used by professional films, we are able to see what conforms and subverts to our crime drama genre by following exemplar films. We will use the mise en scene from the official film trailers by using it as part of our inspiration to do the same.

  • As part of my research I have used the trailer 'Legend' for inspiration as it conforms to our crime drama teaser trailer genre. In the trailer there is a medium long shot of business men drinking Shardine which is a good example to use as the drink is more upper class as it connotes to wealth which makes it an effective prop to use for our own production.
  • Another example from the 'Wolf Of Wall Street' also used drinks as part of mise en scene to conform to the business drama genre. In the trailer we see an extreme close up of a Champaigne bottle having it's cork popped, followed by a character holding a Champagne glass and the bottle. This conforms to a drama genre because the use of drinks symbolises wealth and class which reinforces the belief that business connotes to money and economic/social stature.

As a result, in our trailer we will use mise en scene similar to the use of our exemplars because they used drinks to conform to a business drama. The shot types as well as the props will act as valuable inspiration as our key convention codes.
